We just had the passenger mirror on our 2007 Yukon replaced and the memory settings don’t seem to be working with the new mirror. Once you set the new position if you hit the memory recall everything else will move to its correct spot except that mirror which will slowly move out and up until it’s in the outermost position. No idea what’s going on and can’t find anything helpful online. Is it a defective mirror?

The mirror controller works perfectly fine when doing it manually

The hell? I don’t know, but I’m staying tuned hoping someone else does.

Is the new mirror actually a memory mirror? It’s possible that a non-memory mirror will hook up just fine but won’t actually keep any memory settings.

Sou is like either NOT memory, or it needs to be calibrated to the vehicle. No actual info really. Just a car guy.

Hmm maybe? I didn’t think there be a difference, but maybe there’s an extra sensor or something in the memory mirror

Well as the local expert who has a long history of owning zero GM vehicles (unless you want to count the Saab I had), I say your Yukon is beyond repair.

T he only solution is to arrange to have your Yukon crushed and replace it with a Tesla.

I was going to suggest this. On GMT400 trucks, there are like 10 different mirrors out there, and all of them will bolt up and share at least certain common connectors. I can’t imagine the GMT800 platform is much different in that regard.

Seems  reasonable

Take it back to the dealer, and make them actually perform the calibration steps.

There’s a calibration procedure because the memory mirrors are just like seats in that they don’t know absolute position - they know RELATIVE position, based on stops. If you fail to calibrate the mirror or the seat, the memory settings ARE working.

They’re moving it RELATIVE to where it thinks the stops are. Well if it thinks the stops are half an inch from where they actually are, it moves to there. And every time you adjust it, you get it further from there. And it doesn’t KNOW that the stops are wrong - only that it hits them.

I wonder if there is a homing process that needs to be done with the new mirror so that the motor knows how many steps are between the extents of adjustment and also the counts to the memory positions.

That’s what I’m hoping instead of having to replace the mirror again. Any ideas on how to find the procedure? The dealer we bought it from and had the mirror fixed for free due to it being cracked when we bought it is an hour and a half away from us

Ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff...

You can’t. You literally cannot do this procedure. It’s in the BCM. (No your OBD-II ‘tool’ cannot do it.) Has to be done by a shop with a full Tech2 subscription, which generally means, dealer. It’s not covered by the ‘budget’ or the day subs. Need the full Tech2Win ($250 + $550/yr) plus GDS2 ($575/yr) plus FSM.

I have no idea of the exact procedure on the GMT platform, but I know that on ALL of them, it requires BCM programming access because it’s a feature configuration function.

Yeah, yeah it does. Sucks more that the other dealer couldn’t even bother to look if it had the memory function. I mean, I get it, it wasn’t a common  feature for cars that old. That doesn’t mean it didn’t exist. And just because a car’s “old” doesn’t mean you half-ass it.

I know I'm late to the party, but just wanted to say that rootwym is 100% correct. Dealer missed the calibration step.
